Totally Enclosed Non-Ventilated (TENV) Motors
Totally enclosed non-ventilated (TENV) permanent magnet DC motors are used in applications where the motor surface area is large enough to radiate heat generated by the motor to the outside air without additional air flow from fans or vents. Totally enclosed non-ventilated (TENV) permanent magnet DC motors are the most economical motors for applications that do not require additional cooling.
Totally Enclosed Fan Cooled (TEFC) Motors
Totally enclosed fan cooled (TEFC) permanent magnet DC motors are cooled by an external fan mounted on the end of the motor opposite the output shaft. The fan blows ambient air over the outside surface of the motor to carry heat away. Air does not move through the inside of the motor, so totally enclosed fan cooled (TEFC) permanent magnet DC motors are well suited for dirty and dusty applications.
Open-Ventilated (OV) Motors
Open-ventilated (OV) permanent magnet DC motors are cooled by ambient air flowing through the motor. With open-ventilated (OV) permanent magnet DC motors, either natural flow or a fan is used to move air through the vents in the motor cylinder and / or end housings. More >
